Christianity in Four
Words
Christianity can be condensed into four words - admit. submit,
commit and transmit.
- ADMIT - To follow Christ we must admit that we are lost
sinners. Then we must admit our need for Christ. When Jesus
was asked why he ate with publicans and sinners, he replied, "Those who
are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick."
(Matt 9:12). To follow Jesus we must admit our daily need for the
Great Physician.
- SUBMIT - God has given us the freedom to choose, and the
decision to follow Jesus involves a change of will. Jesus will be
king only by invitation. He does not force his way into our hearts
and lives. He knocks and pleads, but we must open the door of our
own hearts. (Rev 3:20) The key to a closer walk with Christ
is submission of our wills to Him.
- COMMIT - To follow Jesus successfully demands our whole
commitment to Him. Jesus said, "No one, having put his hand to the
plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke
9:26). Are you committed?
- TRANSMIT - God has honored his subjects with privilege of telling
others what we have found in Him. "Go and make disciples of all
the nations," Jesus said. (Matt 28:19,20) Are we telling and
teaching others? How can we stay close to Him if we keep silent
about him to others?
Yes, these four words summarize Christian faith
rather well, don't you think?
