I Was Thinking…

While I have been trying to use this space to promote Bible study I though it good to stray from that path just a little this week and take a look at some of the goings on in our church and our community.  I am suspending our investigation of difficult passages in order to address some of the things I have been thinking about.

First and foremost I want to say a word or two about our beloved brother, Joe Mays.  Many of you were blessed to know Joe many years; I myself would have liked to have known him longer.  Joe was a Christian, a loving husband and father, a servant in the Lord’s church and a veteran of the US Air Force.  He will be missed by all but our separation is only temporary.  We will be reunited in our heavenly home.  I know Joe is waiting there.

Don’t forget our monthly Tuesday morning Bible class will meet June the nineteenth.  This month’s speaker will be Charles White, minister at Shipp’s Bend.  The class will be going out to eat afterward.  Make your plans to attend; you will be greatly blessed.

For the young people, Camp Leatherwood is fast approaching.  Are you ready?  There are still some children who need sponsoring, see Cory if you want to help.  There is also a need for cookies and fruit donations for camp; these are needed by June 24th.

A new quarter is starting soon for Bible Classes at Pond.  We are still looking for that special someone to teach the 4 and 5 year olds.  Have you thought about teaching?  Maybe it’s time to try!  Talk to Chris if you are interested.

Finally, Father’s Day is upon us.   I cannot think of a better way to honor our fathers, as well as our Heavenly Father, than getting up early (remember the service time changes this week) and going to church and then taking dad out for lunch.  Then maybe a long nap on the couch before heading back to church.  Happy Father’s Day!

Love,

Thomas Sneed
