Lost—One Step at a Time

Have you ever noticed how political leaders sometimes reveal only a small part of their plans for our country?  Perhaps you have observed that, when implementing some new program, the company you work for puts it in place incrementally, just a little at a time.  The reason for this is that they know that if everything was made know from the beginning it would likely be rejected.

Isn’t this the same way Satan destroys a faithful Christian?  Very seldom does one move from being a faithful child of God to full apostasy in one leap.  But Satan begins by convincing us that it won’t matter if we miss just one service because we’re too tired.  He lies to us saying, “This one little sin can’t hurt.”  He doesn’t ask us to abandon the Word of God completely, just in one insignificant area so we can attract more members.

Small steps are easier to take.  But, small step down the wide road to destruction will take us there all the same.  We must constantly be on guard against the attacks of Satan who, as Peter warns, “…prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”  We cannot compromise with the devil, he wins every time.

It is our duty to each other to watch for the warning signs of falling away.  Do you know someone is has been absent from worship repeatedly?  Have you noticed a friend who may be flirting with sinful activities?  In many ways we are our brothers’ keepers.  We cannot stand aside and do nothing while a fellow Christian drifts away.  Let us all help one another and pray one for another.  Let us stand firm together and resist the attacks of Satan.

Love,

Thomas Sneed
