Our
God Is Worthy Of Praise
Psalm 33:6-9
I’m taking a break again this week from our study of some of difficult
passages. It is, I believe, a fruitful study but I know that too much
of even a good thing can diminish the appeal. So…I have been thinking a
lot lately about how truly amazing God’s creation is and I wanted to
share with you some of my thoughts.
Did you ever stop to think about the complexity of even the simplest
living beings? Even single-celled organisms are vastly intricate.
Modern medical science has made great advances in understanding and
preserving life, but even the best minds admit they are not even close
to creating life. Of course we know they never will.
Consider the stars in the night sky. With only the human eye we can see
thousands of stars on the clearest nights. With powerful telescopes we
can see many times more and even differentiate between stars, planets,
moons, comets, etc. Though astronomers learn more about the universe
every day they will never uncover all of its mysteries.
According to one source, zoologist have recorded 20,000 species of fish,
6,000 species of reptiles, 9,000 birds, 1,000 amphibians, and 15,000
species of mammals. Not to mention over a million named species of
insects. Some believe, and I agree, that we will never discover all of
the animals God has created.
Our God spoke the universe into existence. He created every living
thing, including man, with only a word. Surely we can see that He is
worthy of our praise and worship. He is worthy of our best effort each
and every time we assemble together to honor him. How then can we ever
think of giving Him anything less than our best? How can we allow the
trivial cares of this world to come before our service to Him? Let’s
strive to always give God top priority.
In Him,
