Setting Back the Clock
Did you remember to set
you clock back? This whole Daylight Savings Time thing is a little
confusing for me. Not only can I not remember when we are supposed to
make the change but I am never quite sure if we are to move the clocks
forward or back. I get a little help from the saying “Spring forward,
Fall back” but I’m never sure and often go to bed worrying that I will
be late for church. And where does that hour go anyway?
Nevertheless, I like
the idea of setting the clock back. Sometimes I would like to set the
clock back not just an hour but a whole day, or even more. I know I am
not the only one who feels this way. I think King David would have
taken back that day he went up on the roof-tops and saw Bathsheba for
the first time. And I am certain Moses would have liked a “do over”
when he struck the rock instead of speaking to it. No doubt Peter
wanted to go back to the night before Jesus’ crucifixion so he could
bravely say, “Yes I know Him.”
I am sure we all have
had days, weeks, or even years that we would like to do over. But life
doesn’t work that way. We must make the most out of every day and when
we do mess up try to learn from it so we don’t repeat it. Isn’t it
great that our Heavenly Father loves us and offers us true forgiveness
of our sins? We can’t go back in time and not sin but we can repent and
ask Him to forgive us. And when we do he remembers it no more—it’s as
if they never happened!
