Spring Is In The Air

As you read through the bulletin in the coming weeks you will notice, among other things, our Spring Meeting is coming up on the 20th of April.  Does that seem far off to you?  It’s sooner than you may think.  Its only eight more Sundays away—just 56 days to get ready!  Let’s start planning now.

You may be asking, “What can I do to help?”  First off, be here with your family every night.  I know as well as anyone that sometimes that is impossible.  But, our meeting ought to take top priority.  If you are able to be here then, by all means, be here.  This is an excellent opportunity for each of us to hear God’s word and to introduce others to the gospel.  It is our responsibility to support the work of the church and the best way to support this work is to be here.

Second, invite, invite, invite!  Sometimes this can be the hardest thing to do.  We don’t know who to ask.  We don’t know how to bring it up.  We don’t think about when we meet someone.  Here are some suggestions that might help: Make a list of everyone you know and invite every person on that list.  Ask your neighbors, your co-workers, your family and friends.  Even invite people you don’t know.  Is the cashier at the grocery store extra nice?  Invite her.  Is the teller at the bank having a bad day?  Invite him.  Did you meet someone at a ballgame?  Invite them.  Buying a new car?  Invite the salesperson.  I challenge everyone (myself included) to invite at least 10 people.  Think how full the pews will be if every one of us brings someone with us.  Let’s shoot for standing room only!

One other way you personally can help make our meeting a success: PRAY!  Pray for our meeting to be a success.  Pray for brother Hatfield.  Pray for the people you invite.  Pray for yourself that you will be able to come every night and have the courage to invite people.

Yours in the Love of God,

Thomas Sneed
