Worry
In the sermon on the Mt., Jesus used simple things,
like the wild flowers and the birds of the heavens to teach us not to
worry. That out heavenly father will take care of things. An old poem
expresses this lesson well:
Said the wild flower to the sparrow
I should really like to know
Why these human beings rush about and
worry so
Said the sparrow to the wild flower
Friend I think it must be
That they have ho heavenly father
Such as cares for you and me.
Our
inclination is to worry. One has said, worry is interest paid on trouble
before it is due. Another has said worry is faith in the negative. Trust
in the unpleasant, assurance of disaster and belief in defeat. Worry is
wasting today’s time to clutter tomorrow’s opportunities with yesterday’s
troubles.
